  1. SYLVIA BREWINGTON DIVERSE PROJECTS AWARD (1971-73)

    To the club presenting the most diversified Garden Club Projects. A One Page Summary (back and front if necessary) should be presented in a binder. Include documentation on Page 2 (back and front if necessary).

    PROJECTS should include at least four of the following: Garden Therapy, Beautification, Flower Arranging, Education, Horticulture Education, Participation in Council Projects or any other phase of garden club work.

    AWARD: First - $15.00; Second - $10.00; Third - $5.00

  2. SYLVIA BREWINGTON YOUTH ENCOURAGEMENT AWARD (1971-73)

    To the club working with a youth club/group (e.g. Girl Scouts, Junior Garden Club, School Club) in a project/program involving gardening, horticulture, floral arranging or other aspects of our natural environment. This must be a more than one time endeavor. Submit a brief report, including name of youth group, number of participants, activities, number of meetings, etc.

    AWARD: First - $10.00; Second - $5.00

  3. REBA McCLANAN CLUB PRESIDENT'S REPORT AWARD (1973-75)

    To the club president submitting the best report on her club's work for the year. Report to be in narrative form no longer than two typewritten pages. Report will be judged on neatness, accuracy, and completeness. May include any other information the president desires.

    This entry is separate from, and not to be confused with the report submitted to the Council President at the Annual Reports Meeting.

    AWARD: First - $10.00; Second - $5.00; Third - $3.00

  4. REBA McCLANAN BEAUTIFICATION AWARD (1973-75)

    To the club having completed the project which adds most to the overall preservation and beautification of the community. Involvement of total community and others is necessary. Before and after snapshots must be included. This entry can also be a ABC completed project.

    AWARD: First - $10.00; Second - $5.00

  5. MARI HALL GARDEN THERAPY AWARD (1975-77)

    To the club sponsoring the best Garden Therapy project with SENIOR or handicapped citizens.

    AWARD: First - $10.00; Second - $5.00

  6. MARI HALL MASTER GARDENERS AWARD (1975-77)

    To the club member who has actively participated in the Master Gardeners Program Report.  To include total number of hours of participation in the current year.

    AWARD: First - $10.00; Second - $5.00

  7. JANET WERNDLI Beautification (ABC) AWARD (1981-83)

    To the club whose ABC project in NEW BEAUTIFICATION, LITTER CONTROL, and GARDEN THERAPY best fulfills the goals of the ABC program based on the judging criteria with special emphasis on the importance of the project and community involvement. Submit a paper outlining the importance of the project; the impact it will have on your community; a complete list of your community participation and garden club participation. DO NOT SUBMIT A BOE.

    AWARD: Beautification - $5.00; Garden Therapy - $5.00; Litter Control - $5.00

  8. JANET WERNDLI CRAPE MYRTLE AWARD (1981-83)

    To the club planting the most Crape Myrtle Trees within the current year in connection with a club project.

    AWARD: First - $5.00

  9. REATHIE VANCE CLUB MEMBERSHIP AWARD (1983-85)

    To the club with the most increase in new club membership during the current club year (based on a percentage of total club membership).

    AWARD: First - $10.00; Second - $5.00; Third - $3.50

  10. JOHNNIE MILLER HISTORIC PRESERVATION AWARD (1985-87)

    To the club involved in the best project for historic preservation. Submit brief report to include: type of project, number of people, hours involved and amount of money expended on project. Include pictures if possible.

    AWARD: First- $10.00; Second - $5.00

  11. JOHNNIE MILLER MEMORIAL BRICK AWARD (1985-87)

    To the club purchasing and/or selling the most memorial bricks for placement in the Francis Land House Memorial Brick Pathway. (Document by listing the name of the person on the brick and date purchased.)

    AWARD: First- $10.00; Second - $5.00

  12. ANN BROWN CHRISTMAS WREATH WORKSHOP AWARD (1987-89)

    To the club with the best participation in the Christmas Wreath Making Workshop for the City Hall Municipal Center buildings. Recipient of this award will be submitted to the Awards Chairman by the Chairman of this event. NO BINDER NECESSARY from the garden club member club.

    AWARD: First - $10.00; Second - $5.00; Third - $3.00

  13. GEORGIA FLETCHER SCRAPBOOK PAGE AWARD (1989-91)

    Scrapbook page must be a capsule study of club projects and activities for the year. Must include club name, year, officers, projects, activities, etc., May include pictures, clippings, etc., After judging, entrant pages will be kept for one year and returned to the club at the following Annual luncheon.  Blank scrapbook pages will be distributed at a Spring Council meeting.

    AWARD: First - $5.00; Second - $3.00; Third - $2.00

  14. GEORGIA FLETCHER GARDEN PAPER AWARD (1989-91)

    To the club submitting the best paper on the subject "WHAT BEING A GARDEN CLUB MEMBER MEANS TO ME."  Limited to one typewritten page or two handwritten pages.

    AWARD: First - $10.00; Second - $5.00

  15. CHRIS WARNSTAFF INDIVIDUAL AWARD (1993-95)

    To the club submitting a summary page explaining what has been done during the year to educate club members on preserving the environment.  This may be achieved through programs, workshops, field trips, literature, etc.

    AWARD: First - $20.00; Second - $15.00; Third - $10.00

  16. CAROLYN DENNIS FLOWER ARRANGING AWARD (1997-99)

    To the club whose member best participated in providing floral arrangements for her clubs monthly exhibits which are displayed for inter-club judging. Must be documented with dates and photographs. (Limited to one entry per class.)

    AWARD: First - $15.00; Second - $10.00

  17. SUZIE DUCKWORTH INDIVIDUAL ACHIEVEMENT AWARD (1999-01)

    To a club member whose efforts display outstanding performance in support of club, Council and community.  Submit a paper delineating this person's activities and importance of their achievement.

    AWARD: First - $10.00; Second - $5.00

  18. SUZIE DUCKWORTH EMPTY BOWLS CHARITY DINNER WORKSHOP AWARD (1999-01)

    To the club with the best participation in the workshop for Flower arrangements for the Empty Bowls Dinner at the Wesleyan College Campus. Submitted to the awards Chairman by the Chairman of the event. NO BINDER IS NECESSARY from the Garden Club member.

    AWARD: First - $10.00; Second -$5.00

  19. SUZIE DUCKWORTH SENIOR GALA WORKSHOP AWARD (1999-01)

    To the club with the best participation at the flower arrangement workshop for the Neptune Festival's Senior Gala at the Virginia Beach Convention Center.  Nominees will be submitted to the Awards Chairman by the Chairman of the event.  NO BINDER IS NECESSARY FROM THE GARDEN CLUB MEMBER.

    AWARD: First - $10.00; Second - $5.00

  20. CHERYLL KLOBUCHAR PARTICIPATION AWARD (2001-03)

    To the club supporting Council projects with the largest number of members participating on a percentage basis.  A form will be provided by the Awards Chairman.

  21. CHERYLL KLOBUCHAR CLUB NEWSLETTER AWARD (2001-03)

    To the club publishing the best newsletter with at least six issues annually.  Must submit only three with notation of number published during the year.

    AWARD: First - $10.00; Second - $5.00

  22. CHERYLL KLOBUCHAR INTER-CLUB JUDGING AWARD (2001-03)

    To the club who has the most club members participating in designing floral arrangements and displaying horticulture for their club's monthly inter-club judging exhibits.  Document with number of members participating and dates.

    AWARD: First - $10.00; Second - $5.00

  23. Darlene Halvorsen Francis Land House Christmas Decorating Award (2003-05)

    To the club that has the most members decorate the Francis Land House for Christmas.

    AWARD: First - $10.00; Second - $5.00

  24. Darlene Halvorsen Francis Land House Weekly Floral Arrangements Award (2003-05)

    To the club having the best participation in providing the weekly floral arrangements at the Francis Land House.  Candidates for this award will be submitted to the Awards Chairman by the Francis Land House Committee Chairman.  NO BINDER IS NECESSARY FROM THE GARDEN CLUB MEMBER.

    AWARD: First - $10.00; Second - $5.00

  25. Anne Herrick Historic Garden Week Decorating Award (2005-07)

    To the club having the most members participating in the decorating of the Francis Land House for Historic Garden Week in Virginia.  Nominees will be submitted to the Awards Chairman by the Francis Land House Committee Chairman.  NO BINDER IS NECESSARY FROM THE GARDEN CLUB MEMBER.

    AWARD: First - $10.00; Second - $5.00

  26. Anne Herrick Historical Homes Award (2005-07)

    To the club that participates with the most Historic homes in Virginia Beach.  Submit a report to include:  Names of Historic Homes, type of project and/or involvement (e.g. floral arrangements, gardening/landscaping, etc.), number of people, amount of money (if any) and number of hours involved.  Include pictures if available.

    AWARD: First - $10.00; Second - $5.00

  27. Glenda Knowles "Stewards of the Land" Award (2007-09)

    To the club whose members plant the most native plants.  Plants must be native to Virginia Beach or this Zone (Zone 8).  Plants should be planted between September 2007 and May 2008.  Documentation:  BOE containing a cover page with the name of award, year, club name, name of person submitting the award; remaining pages: members' names, name of plant(s), including common and botanical, and a before and after photo.

    AWARD: First - $25.00; Second - $10.00

  28. Glenda Knowles Attendance Incentive Award (2007-09)

    To the club that has five (5) or more members attend all five (5) General meetings, both October and February special programs, and the May dsign program.  The club must also participate at least one (1) time during the current year in providing some refreshments for one of the meetings at the Central Library.  Documentstion:  A BOE must include eight (8) pages - one for each meeting.  The pages must include:  date of the meeting, names of members attending the meeting, a group photo of those members attending and taken at the Council meeting/luncheon.

    NOTE:  No tie will be given.  The club that qualifies and comiles their BOE and turns it in the earliest will be the winner!

    AWARD: First - $100.00
